2026 Emerging Artist Distinction

PJAS - Pennsylvania Journal of Arts and Sciences
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
Deadline: Sunday, August 30, 2026

The 2026 Emerging Artist Distinction identifies early-career artists whose work reflects a distinct perspective and strong potential for continued development. The distinction is awarded to a limited number of artists each cycle and is intended to highlight practices that demonstrate intentionality, clarity of vision, and a developing formal or conceptual direction.

Submissions are considered across visual and interdisciplinary forms. Particular attention is given to work that conveys a defined approach or emerging visual language, rather than technical refinement alone.

Selected artists are featured within editorial releases and spotlight interviews. They may also be included in curated presentations of emerging work across the journal’s platforms.

In addition to editorial recognition, select recipients may be awarded cash prizes of up to $1000 at the discretion of the editorial board. These awards are reserved for work that demonstrates exceptional clarity, originality, or momentum within an emerging practice.
